Robert is Lancashire born and bred. Educated at Stonyhust College near Clitheroe, Robert graduated from the University of the West of England, Bristol with BSc honours degree in Valuation and Estate Management and joined Bristol based property consultancy firm Vining Management Ltd, before returning to the flats of Lancashire in 2005, where he joined Acland Bracewell Surveyors.

After completing his training, Robert qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2009, gaining Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and adding the further professional qualification of Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV) a year later. In 2010 Robert was invited to become a Director of the practice and in 2016, graduated with a MA in Town and Country Planning from the University of the West of England. Robert is a Licentiate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and is currently working towards becoming dual qualified as a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).

Robert specialises in Town and Country planning and development, including agricultural, residential and commercial development, development and change of use in the Green Belt, strategic land promotion on the urban fringe through the Local Plan process, enforcement and certificate of lawfulness applications. Robert has also acted on behalf of a number of clients at Appeal, through Informal Hearing and Public Inquiry and has appeared at Local Plan Examinations in Public (EiP). Robert is an RICS Registered Valuer, specialising in valuation for a range of purposes and has appeared in his capacity as a valuer at the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process of mediation.

A former President of the Lancashire Agricultural Valuers’ Association (LAVA) in the year 2015 and current LAVA Council Member, Robert is married to Sarah and away from work, enjoys frustrating his wife with his unequivocal passion for all things sport. He may be found in various guises ranging from cricket to golf and from shooting to fly fishing. Robert admits that he is not as good a shot as his wife, but would like to believe he could stand his ground, as long as it’s not driven.
