Having graduated from Newcastle University in 1979 with an honours degree in Agriculture (Estate Management), Paul became qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1985 and gained further professional qualifications from the CAAV in 1986. He was elected a Fellow of the RICS in 1999 and is an RICS Registered Valuer.
A native of Nottinghamshire, Paul spent 3 years with Smiths Gore in Shropshire before joining Worsley based Bridgewater Estates ‐ now part of the Peel Holdings group. After later spells with the Peak National Park and managing Bury & Hilton’s Ashbourne office, Paul was invited back as Land Agent to manage Peel’s evolving rural estate and telecommunications interests, where he remained 14 years until Roger Bracewell asked Paul to join him as a Director at Acland Bracewell. More recently Paul has become a Consultant for Acland Bracewell Surveyors.
Since 2004, Paul has managed a growing client base, specialising in development land deals, and telecommunications, agricultural tenancy and boundary matters. He has spoken at many conferences and seminars throughout the country. A former President and Secretary of the Lancashire Agricultural Valuers’ Association, he continues to hold the post of Treasurer. Paul has served on the national CAAV Property Committee since 2005, now acting as its Convenor.
According to his long‐suffering wife, Julie, he spends too much of his spare time doing voluntary work and as little gardening as possible. He is the Chairman of two local property‐based charities, a Churchwarden in Chipping and, until his recent retirement, was a long serving governor of the village school. Along with two of his three daughters, Paul enjoys watching Notts County, remaining absurdly optimistic of their being promoted. Until his body grew less able than his mind, Paul enjoyed playing village cricket but now mostly confines himself to umpiring, where he finds his honesty is less appreciated by his former teammates.
