Claire is a Lancashire lass, having been brought up at her family home in the village of Higher Wheelton, and later making a home for herself with her husband and now their young daughter, Freya, in the neighbouring village of Brinscall. Being the daughter of, and sister to, Beef Shorthorn Farmers, Claire is particularly familiar with that unique smell of the countryside and enjoys the other delights of everything rural. Having graduated from Edge Hill University in 2004 with a Geography degree, Claire was attracted to the discipline of Town and Country Planning and began her career as a Local Government Planning Officer at West Lancashire Borough Council.

Claire spent over 12 years’ working for West Lancashire Borough Council, and throughout that time, attained a Masters of Civic Design from the University of Liverpool in 2007, and later became a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) in 2013. In her later years at West Lancashire Borough Council, Claire was responsible for major planning applications, varying from residential schemes to solar farms to glasshouse extensions. With a desire to dip her toes in to the water of the Private Sector, in the Spring of 2017, Claire joined Acland Bracewell Surveyors as an Associate to help expand the dedicated Planning Team.

Claire deals with all areas of planning and has a particular specialism in both Green Belt and Rural Planning Policy. Claire’s time spent working as a Local Planning Officer is invaluable when assessing the development potential of a site and guiding Clients through the maze that is the planning process.

Outside of work, Claire is keen on her fitness, enjoys the outdoors and spends her weekends chasing after her daughter and family Border Collie; Meg. Claire also has a keen interest in barn conversion projects, having completed one with her husband which is now their home.
