Arden Lea Nurseries is a large scale commercial grower of bedding plants, together with producing plants for both the hanging baskets and patio markets. Annually the business produces over 1 million products.

The majority of the produce is sold through national stores such as B&Q however; the business also grows on contract with local supermarkets such as Booths.

The current oil fired boilers at one of Arden Lea’s sites was no longer meeting the requirements of the business, plus it was proving to be a costly expenses. Thus, Arden Lea looked to invest in a 995kW Biomass boiler in order to provide the necessary plant propagation required to meet the business contracts.

Acland Bracewell were subsequently instructed to prepare and submit the necessary documentation for a full planning application for the installation of a Biomass Boiler. Accordingly, an Application for the Approval of the Height of Chimney Serving a Furnace, together with a Full Planning Application and a Highways Assessment were submitted to the Local Planning Authority.

Acland Bracewell liaised closely with the Planning Case Officer and also the Statutory Consultees and obtained retrospective planning permission on 27th November 2014.

Acland Bracewell have since been instructed to assist with the planning for a further Biomass Boiler at another of Arden Lea’s sites.
