Planning Permission for 830 dwellings at South of Atherton

Acland Bracewell are delighted to announce that outline planning permission has been granted for the 76 acre master plan by Wigan Council over South of Atherton, Greater Manchester for up to 830 dwellings, together with open space, road infrastructure and landscaping with all matters reserved, except for access off Bee Fold Lane, Crab Tree Lane and Leigh Road. (Application Reference No. A/17/84560/OUTMAJ)

The land is within the ownership of Tarleton Estates Limited, which forms part of the Lilford Estate, whom Acland Bracewell are the UK appointed agents.

“Working extensively with the local community members, stakeholders, and fellow professionals, we are very proud to have been involved in the delivery of this sustainable urban extension to the south of Atherton and within close proximity to transport links and Manchester City centre.

The Lilford Estate are significant landowners in Atherton and the North West and many of the parks and open space has been gifted by the Estate over many years. Significant work was undertaken to ensure that the s.106 monies generated by the developing is invested locally.

Through the s.106 agreement, the whole development will generate up to £1.97 million for local education, £896,000 towards highways and footpath improvements and up to £860,000 towards off site recreation improvements for the benefit of the existing and future residents of Atherton and the surrounding  local community.”
